Who we are
We Are Church-YOUTH is a network of teens and young
adults, who are working for the renewal of the Roman-Catholic church. We are
inspired by the Second Vatican Council and hope that the message of Jesus will
reach out into the Third Millenium. We want to inform young people about the
reform movements in the Catholic church. Our work is based upon the five points
of the We Are Church Referendum, which attracted 2.3 million signratures
in German-speaking countries. Surveys show that We Are Church speaks for a
majority of Catholics all over the world.
What we are doing
Since the We Are Church grassroots referendum in 1995 young people have been engaged in the Church in many ways, for example during the collection of signatures, at the German Catholic Congress in Hildesheim 1996, at the Catholic Conferences Mainz 1998 and Hamburg 2000, at the world-wide Synod of the People of God in Rome / Italy 2001, at the Catholic World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto/ Canada and the Ecumenical Church Conference in Berlin/ Germany in 2003 and with "World Youth Day 4 All" in Cologne/ Germany 2005.
We are looking forward to hear from you!
